1 Week...

...in the life of a Weight Watchers member.

I resemble this remark!

Day 1 (right after weigh in)
Oh boy, that piece of cake I saved is near,
Besides, no pounds will ever show,
I've got seven whole days to go.

Day 2
A day of shopping at the mall,
And a burger special - cheese, mayo and all.
I'll walk it off and get in gear,
Six days to go, no weigh-in near!

Day 3
I think I'll skip my tuna lunch.
A Reuben Sandwich is what I'll munch.
With maybe a shake and chips, you know?
Besides, I've got five days to go!

Day 4
For breakfast one egg, toast and juice.
Kids left their pancakes.  Oh! What's the use?
These days wasting food is such a sin,
And it's still four days till I weigh in.

Day 5
Boy, the weekend is really rough.
Restaurant menus are very tough.
I'll work off this steak, no problem here.
In just three days I'll be in the clear?

Day 6
Breakfast...I'll just have coffee today.
Maybe I'll lose some that way!
Supper...I'm starving - I could eat a whale.
Two more days till I step on that scale!

Day 7
Now my nerves are really a wreck.
I might as well eat.  Oh! What the heck!
I'll drink tons of water and walk all night.
One day to go - I'll be alright.

Weigh In Day
I polished off the pizza as a snack today.
But followed it with two bowls of Special K!
I gained two pounds - can you believe?
Maybe it's the Milky Way I've got up my sleeve.
Really, Weight Watchers works if you just take it slow.
I guess I didn't have seven days to go!

This Ain't My First Rodeo

I'm determined to make it through this holiday season with little to no weight gain. So I'm going into it with a plan. Starting today, the kick off to the glutton fest. I'm writing it down to be held accountable, therefore, you get to know what it is.

Don't you feel privy and special?

1. Drink LOTS of water. And I mean lots! (in between the glasses of red wine...)
2. Wear tight pants. That's right, no elastic, no expanding, no sweatpants. I'll know when I'm done when my waistband cuts off circulation to my lower half.
3. Fill half my plate with veggies. So what if my sweet potatoes and green beans are swimming in butter.
4. Go on a walk pre and post meal. Ok, fine, so the post meal walk is really to make room for dessert.
5. Dessert. Oh dear. Stick to desserts that contain fruit. Pumpkin pie, berry pie, apple pie. Pecans are a protein nut, so I'll allow pecan pie too. Oh, and 1/2 fat, slow churned ice creams are clear too.

Get a Flat Belly Without Diet or Exercise

YES PLEASE! That's exactly what I want. A flat belly. Sans the diet or exercise.

Can you make that happen please?

No...? Fine! Here are some tips from MSN Health and Fitness.

  • Perfect your posture - stand up straight! it'll help tone your tummy muscles.
  • Drink up! - the more water you drink the less you retain. doesn't sound right does it? but it's true!
  • Have a seat! - in regards to the bathroom... hummm...
  • Masticate mindfully - sounds dirty doesn't it? don't scarf your food, chew it slowly and enjoy it.
  • Turn to the "pros" - probiotics that is. they help with your digestive system.
  • Walk it off - 30 minutes a day, that's all you need. a little metabolism boost never hurt anyone.
  • Give up gum - something about ending up with more air that makes you puffy. but I use gum as a hunger suppressant.
  • Supplement! - take your vitamins!
  • Relax already! - stress causes bad hormones to be generated, so take 20 minutes a day to relax and unwind.
  • A chuckle a day - apparently laughing will target a muscle that most ab workouts won't reach. plus, who doesn't love a good laugh?
Ok, now go read all about it for more details and information.

2008 Weigh In Results

2008 is OVER! But the journey of weight loss is not.

2008 resulted in a decrease in my weight from the beginning of the year. Although I would have liked it to have been more, I'm happy with what I did lose.

Drum roll please....
By Weight Watcher weigh in's, I lost 10.8 pounds. By my scale, I lost 14.5. Either one, I'll take it!

Here's to 2009 and continuing that downward trend.

Here's to being a loser!

A New Diet

I have a great diet! You're allowed to eat anything you want, but you must eat it staring at naked fat people.

I'm Such a Loser!

And being a loser is a good thing! Here’s an update since last time I filled you in on my weight lose.

I meet my goal of losing 10 pounds by Jenn’s wedding, maybe not by my Weight Watcher’s weigh-ins, but by my own scale. I figured that was close enough. My second sub goal of my weight loss goal is to lose another 5 pounds by my class reunion on June 28th. By my own scale, I’m only 1.5 away from that. So I’m sittin’ pretty!

So here’s that chart showing my downward trend to skinnier me. Just as before, I’ve removed the actual weights on the y-axis for my own personal privacy. The dates and weights are based on my Weight Watcher weigh-ins that happens on Mondays.

Please note the most recent day, 6/16 is the new low of the year!

I’m currently down 9.2 from my weight watcher weigh ins. I think I’m doing quite well. I know that every week I won’t have a loss, but if I can just keep those days to a minimum, things will go in the right direction. Literally! Please help keep me motivated, hold me accountable, and slap my hand if I pick up a cheeseburger. Thanks!

Anyone want to be a loser with me?

Day of Excitement

I'm all about getting myself presents. And I don't mean, "hey, I'm at Target and need some toothpaste" present; I mean the "it's my birthday/Christmas and I deserve to get myself something nice" present. So a couple weeks ago I did just that.

And you know what I order? Of course you don't. Silly me, you weren't here.

I order myself a Wii Fit. Ok, I know, you're probably asking "why did you order it online instead of picking it up at a store?" Well, this is a hot item folks. Plus I work during normal hours and by the time stores opened and released it, I'd still be at work. And by the time I was out of work, they'd be sold out. So I'll wait a few extra days for it to ship to me.

So coming up, as soon as it gets here, I'll post about my Wii Fit adventures.

Adios Septembre

September's Resolutions Results...

1. Actively seek God in my day to day life, worshiping Him and bring Him glory. Being like Jesus to people. Hold me accountable, please.
I suck at this one. I need help. At least Bible Study started back up this past week.

2. Change my eatting habits. By doing this it'll be easier to losing weight. There are only 35 days until the wedding that I'm in. I know I can do this!
Ok, so I think I'm eating better as far as less calories. But now it's time to start focusing on eating proper low calorie foods. You know, that 5 servings of veggies a day.

3. Go somewhere at least an hour away from home - Tahoe here I come!
Woot Woot! That was one of the best darn weekends all summer. I know, you haven't seen pictures yet. Hummm...What happens in Tahoe stays in Tahoe...? I'll find some appropriate ones to post for you.

4. Quit rewarding myself with food. Time to reward myself with something different. A pedicure, manicure, new shirt, or purse, or whatever (and I'm making enough money to do that and not worry too much now!).
How about I didn't really reward myself with much of anything... I took the money saving route.

5. Exercise. Swim, walk, Bosu ball, anything! I found that Pilates makes me sore = working muscles that need to be worked. Time to do that more often.
I did pilates a number of times in September with Rylen. I didn't throw a hammer around as much as last month.

6. Have at least one major thing completed on the house. Attempt to have bathroom partially done.
So, we have windows. Did we have new windows last month? I can't remember. But now we do. Things are at a bit of financial stand still. Not from lack of funds, more of an appraisal stand point... More on that later.

7. Do something BOLD or DARING!
Ok, so I was *this* close to getting a little tattoo while in Tahoe...

8. Purchase couch for house.
Yea, never made it to IKEA. But the money is set aside in savings just for it.

9. Start tanning again. I can't be a white bridesmaid...
I'm well on my way of being a brown bug. No more whiteness.

Bye Bye August

August Resolution Results

1. Actively seek God in my day to day life, worshiping Him and bring Him glory. Being like Jesus to people. Hold me accountable people, please.
Ok, so I'm a complete heathen. I haven't gone to church in months. Pray for me. I've fallen off the wagon. Not that I'm doing bad things, I'm just not where I was a year ago.

2. Losing weight. Summer is almost over, and I only have 2 months left until my best friend's wedding in October. My goal, which is totally obtainable, is to lose 10 pounds (5 pounds per month) by then. For those of you that I eat out with regularly, please hold me to it.
I don't think I lost any weight. But, I did start walking with Rylen fairly regularly, even in the heat! I feel I'm eating better and exercising, just not getting any results. Grrrr...

3. Go somewhere at least an hour away from home.
I went to IKEA in Sacramento, does that count?

4. Quit rewarding myself with food. Time to reward myself with something different. A pedicure, manicure, new shirt, or purse, or whatever (and I'm making enough money to do that and not worry too much now!).
I don't know how you gauge this one.

5. Exercise. Swim, walk, Bosu ball, anything!
Walking about 3 times a week, or doing pilates. Plus at work alone I walk about 2 miles, no joke I clocked it with a pedimeter.

6. Try to be at the painting stage by the end of the month at the house across the street. Which mind you, as soon as it's done I can move it. But there is lots to do to it.
Yea, who was I kidding. We're not at the painting stage yet. Not even close, but we are closer. I do have a new front and back door, just not installed yet.

7. Do something BOLD or DARING!
Hummmmm.... I don't think I did this. Oh, I bought a plane ticket to go to New York!

May Resolutions Results

My May resolutions were as listed below. The results are in bold.

1. Actively seek God in my day to day life, worshiping Him and bring Him glory.
Trying always, and a work in progress.

2. Still... No pastries, desserts, and nibblings from Hilmar Cheese. They are delicious. But they are the death of me.
Much more under control than it has been in the past. I still nibble, but I know when to stay away.

3. Yep, this one again... Lose 5 pounds. Time to get seriously serious, summer is closer than just around the corner, it's in less than a month.
During the month of May I lost between 3 and 4 pounds! Yeah me!

4. Go somewhere out of the area. Last month was Washington DC. It won't be somewhere as far, but I'm definitely going somewhere at least 50 miles away. My BFF, Rylen, and I are planning something for Memorial Day weekend. But we're not sure what to do yet. Any ideas?
I didn't go anywhere for Memorial Day weekend. But I did go down to SLO for a cousin's wedding. 3 hours away counts as going somewhere.

5. Still Target in moderation. Shopping only by a list of needs. And no, that does not mean that I'll be making the list as I shop. :)
I'm doing good on this one. I only splurged once all month when I purchased a Bosu ball, which I've been wanting for months.

6. God has a plan for me in my job situation. And I'm trusting Him, but I still have to actively pursue opportunities out there. So I will continue to look for a new job.
Still keeping my eyes open, but staying where I am for now.

7. Have the BEST darn birthday EVER (May 14)! Anyone care to join me?
I had a GREAT birthday! That night I had bible study where they had strawberry shortcake for me, yummmm.... Tuesday night my wonderful friends surprised me at Tuesday Night Dinner with a party. 2 weeks after my birthday my parents took me out to dinner, and a good friend took me out to lunch. Gotta love birthdays that you celebrate all month! Oh yea, but I did break my pinky toe on my birthday. (for more info see prior posts.)

8. Quit rewarding myself with food. If I do something good or deserving or a reward (went on a walk, lost weight, made it through a day at work, etc.) I tend to treat myself to something with calories, and lots of them. Time to reward myself with something different. A pedicure, manicure, new shirt, or purse, or whatever.
I can't say I was entirely successful at this one. But I didn't over indulge in what I did do.

May Flowers

New Month Resolutions time! May resolutions are:

March Resolution Results...

Below are my March resolutions. The bold comments are the results for the end of the month.

1. Actively seek God in my day to day life, worshiping Him and bring Him glory.
Actively seek daily, yes. Short prayers here and there, wanting to do God's will not my own. I guess you can call this a work in progress resolution though.

2. No myspace. You still want to leave me a comment or message you can at my myspace page, I just won't be checking them until April 1st. And everyone can hold me accountable since it shows last login date on my profile.
YEAH! Success! I have not been on myspace in a month. Was it hard? Honestly not really. What have I learned? That there are many other things to waste my time on, it doesn't all have to be on myspace. It's officially been April for 24 minutes and I STILL haven't gone on myspace. :)

3. No makeup. Yes, I'll still be wearing it, I just won't be purchasing it for the month. I have a ton of makeup, and it's time to reduce inventory.
Check. I think I did get to throw away some stuff I used up.

4. Lose 5 pounds. Same as last month and the next 9 months of the year. Time to get serious, June is only 3 months away.
I think my monthly total was somewhere in the 2 pound range. That's better than a gain...

5. Exercise. I don't have to belong to a gym to do this. I am going to exercise in some form or another at least 3 times a week.
I failed royally at this one. I think I worked out intentionally one day all month. Don't get me wrong, I did activities that could be considered exercise but I didn't necessarily look at them as that.

6. Go somewhere out of the area. I live so close to a lot, time to experience and enjoy it.
Planned on going to Carmel, that didn't happen. Dreamed of going to Montana de Oro (near San Luis Obispo) to just sit on the beach alone, had to work yesterday instead (stupid end of the month counting!). Going somewhere out of the area didn't happen this month. But it will next month, I'm going to DC baby!

7. Target is back in the pictures, just in moderation. Time to shop only by a list of needs. And no, that does not mean that I'll be making the list as I shop. :)
I can honestly say that I only went to Target 2 maybe 3 times this month. WOW, I know!

8. Heavily pursue finding a new job.
Heavily pursue... Well, I found out that I was declined for the two potentials that I was interviewing for. So, the pursuing continues.

And for the Lent season I have given up soda.
Still going. But I haven't had a soda since before the Lent season started.

End of February Results

So I've made it through February. Two months of 2007 are gone. So let me give you a little update on how my New Month Resolutions are going:

1. Not step foot in Target for the WHOLE month - Success is mine! I did not step foot in a Target store ALL MONTH. And with that, my checking account stayed a little fuller.

2. Lose 5 pounds. Last month I lost 6.4. So this is totally doable - This was not a success. But I did lose, just now 5 pounds. That's ok though, I've got next month to make up for it.

3. Take a day trip somewhere - The going somewhere didn't happen this month, unless you count Modesto... Yea, I didn't think so.

4. Not mope on the dreaded Valentine's Day because I don't have a Valentine - Really can't judge how this one went. I spent the dreaded holiday with friends, so that was great.

5. Take my mom out to lunch - Mom and I are busy. I did make her dinner. Does that count?

6. Heavily pursue finding a new job - Haven't hurt from the City of Modesto since the written exam. Praying I hear from them soon, very soon.

7. Actively seek God in my day to day life worshiping Him and bring Him glory - This is one of those things that I will always strive to succeed at. I will always feel I'm not reaching God's expectations, but that is only the reason to seek harder. I have been challenged though the weekly Bible study that I am in and with Spiritual Formation Sunday mornings. Always a work in progress.

Update as of 2/28/07.
