Honore Wedding

On September 15th I attended a wedding. A very hotie, totie wedding held in my home town. The groom was a classmate of mine, and his family are good family friends. Here are a few pictures for you. Sorry, none are of the bride and groom...

Me before hand.

House Update

Update on the house for you with pictures!...

1. The kitchen is completely gutted. Well, except for the dishwasher that is bolted to the floor. Here is a picture of the before.

2. The bathroom is completely gutted. Even the spot where the medicine cabinet sits in the wall.

3. The doors that are propped against the wall in the living room are now hung with care.

4. The lone chest sitting in the middle of the living room has been cleaned up and stained and painted.

5. All of the windows have been replaced.

Ok, so I don't have current up-to-date photos, but I will. Camera battery died though :(

On the road again

Today I pack. Tomorrow I travel to Lake Tahoe. Yeah!

If you need to find me, I'll be staying in this cabin:

But I'm guessing if it's urgent the cell phone would be a better option.

Please pray for safe travel. Safe bachelorette party celebrating. Good weather (it's supposed to be in the 60's all weekend with some raining). And good times had by all.

Is red the new yellow?

This is a typical scenario that I've witnessed lately:
I'm driving in town, going from here to there. Having a red stop light I, as the law abiding citizen, stop. My light turns green. Green means go, right? Wrong. I've got to wait because vehicles decided to just blow right through their red light.

How does that happen? What makes a person think it's ok to throw caution to the wind and risk their life, and others, and run a light? Honestly! This situation happens to me daily. I know darn well that if I decided go through a light like that a cop would caught me and hand me a fat ticket. So where are the cops for all the rest of these goons? Why is everyone in such a hurry that they can't wait the few extra minutes at a light?

So this is how it apparently looks now:
Green = stop a little longer
Yellow = goes fast
Red = Go, go, go

You can't go wrong...

than spending an evening with friends having dinner. (That'd would be 99% fat free chili for me and regular chili for the rest.) Hanging out. Drinkin' some wine. And relaxing. Nice.

I can see clearly now...

That the dusty, dirty, old, icky windows are gone. Well, almost gone. Don's Mobile glass will start installion of the 21 new windows tomorrow! YEAH! Dad was installing the new back door today. And another truck load was taken to the dump. Tonight, after someone has come and talked to us about what they can do to help with the construction side of things, I'm going to close all the (old) windows and set off some bug bombs. Kill whatever spiders, ants, and other creepy crawlies are left in the house.

I think the fire has finally been lit...

House Update

Slowly little by little things are getting done. And I know I told you that I'd post pictures, and I will, I promise! So here's what we got done over the weekend:
-Load of cabinets and counters to the dump
-New front door installed!!!
-Cabinets in utility room knocked out (I did it all by myself)
-Spray painted the new layout on the floor (dad said he wanted to see it drawn out...)
-Windows are all in at Don's, now to just schedule them to come install
-Took a trip to Lowe's with family. Nothing was purchased, but one thing was accomplished. Dad said to just go ahead and schedule Lowe's to come measure for cabinets to have them install them. Got prices for bathroom stuff, now to just have a plan and purchase.
-Construction guy friend going to come tomorrow to look at things and tell us what he can do, what we can do, etc.

Tada! It was a busy weekend at the House. As an incentive (hopefully), I told him I would host appetizers and wine for Thanksgiving. So we'll see...

Weekend Ahead

So as I'm sitting here thinking about my weekend, I'm realizing that I've got quite a bit going on. Let me give you a quick snippet of what I KNOW I'm doing.
- I'm taking a trip to Lowe's to purchase bathroom stuff (toilet, tub, vanity w/ sick, etc.). Hopefull this will be happening tonight, but it depends on how dad is feeling after a routine procedure he's having done this morning. If not, tomorrow afternoon or Sunday will be the trip.
- Big giant huge fancy smancy wedding to attend tomorrow evening. We're talking 550 people sit down serve. The groom was a high school classmate, we went through the same confirmation class at church, went to the same college (where he took a few extra years to party), good family friends all around. I'm ready to party like a rock star. (I'll post pictures after the shindig)
- *crossing fingers* Taking a trip to IKEA to purchase couches Sunday.
- Working on house when I can.
- Finish the Oktoberfest invitation, get them to Kinko's to get copies made, finish the labels, and get them in the mail.
- Oh, and I just told HCC Catering (past employer) that I could help set up tomorrow morning for said giant wedding mentioned above. They are desparate for help. I can use some extra money. So why not?
- Church. Let's pray I can make it this Sunday. I've been a heathen lately. Bad me!

Wow, that's all I can think of for now. I'll enjoy the resting while I can get it. Like next weekend in Tahoe...

New Job

Can I just say that I'm thoroughly enjoying my new job! It just dawned on me that today is Thursday. I'm just skating through the week without really caring or worrying what day of the week it is. Now, if I were still working in the VC I would have been counting down the days until Friday starting Monday. Although I've got a lot yet to learn with my new position in QA, I'm enjoying the environment, co-workers, everything. That's all I have to say about that. God does bless those that are patient.

The End.

House Progress

So, here's what we have completed with the house in the past month (pictures to follow later).

- Had a yard sale in August to sell stuff and empty house. Whatever was left over got moved to the church for the church yard sale in October.
- Bathroom completely gutted!
- 75% complete with removing cabinets and counter in kitchen.
- Removed felt pad in living room. Did this mainly to remove any smell being held in it and to reduce dust.
- Removed mid-wall trim and crown molding in kitchen and utility room.
- Purchased new front and back door!
- Central heating and air installed.
- Cabinets, counter, and back splash picked out for kitchen.

There is still a TON to do. We're not even close to the painting stage, but hopefully soon enough we will be. Feel free to stop by if you're in the neighborhood. I'd be happy to give a tour!

September

Time for September's resolutions...

1. Actively seek God in my day to day life, worshiping Him and bring Him glory. Being like Jesus to people. Hold me accountable, please.

2. Change my eatting habits. By doing this it'll be easier to losing weight. There are only 35 days until the wedding that I'm in. I know I can do this!

3. Go somewhere at least an hour away from home - Tahoe here I come!

4. Quit rewarding myself with food. Time to reward myself with something different. A pedicure, manicure, new shirt, or purse, or whatever (and I'm making enough money to do that and not worry too much now!).

5. Exercise. Swim, walk, Bosu ball, anything! I found that Pilates makes me sore = working muscles that need to be worked. Time to do that more often.

6. Have at least one major thing completed on the house. Attempt to have bathroom partially done.

7. Do something BOLD or DARING!

8. Purchase couch for house.

9. Start tanning again. I can't be a white bridesmaid...

Bye Bye August

August Resolution Results

1. Actively seek God in my day to day life, worshiping Him and bring Him glory. Being like Jesus to people. Hold me accountable people, please.
Ok, so I'm a complete heathen. I haven't gone to church in months. Pray for me. I've fallen off the wagon. Not that I'm doing bad things, I'm just not where I was a year ago.

2. Losing weight. Summer is almost over, and I only have 2 months left until my best friend's wedding in October. My goal, which is totally obtainable, is to lose 10 pounds (5 pounds per month) by then. For those of you that I eat out with regularly, please hold me to it.
I don't think I lost any weight. But, I did start walking with Rylen fairly regularly, even in the heat! I feel I'm eating better and exercising, just not getting any results. Grrrr...

3. Go somewhere at least an hour away from home.
I went to IKEA in Sacramento, does that count?

4. Quit rewarding myself with food. Time to reward myself with something different. A pedicure, manicure, new shirt, or purse, or whatever (and I'm making enough money to do that and not worry too much now!).
I don't know how you gauge this one.

5. Exercise. Swim, walk, Bosu ball, anything!
Walking about 3 times a week, or doing pilates. Plus at work alone I walk about 2 miles, no joke I clocked it with a pedimeter.

6. Try to be at the painting stage by the end of the month at the house across the street. Which mind you, as soon as it's done I can move it. But there is lots to do to it.
Yea, who was I kidding. We're not at the painting stage yet. Not even close, but we are closer. I do have a new front and back door, just not installed yet.

7. Do something BOLD or DARING!
Hummmmm.... I don't think I did this. Oh, I bought a plane ticket to go to New York!

Wanna hear a funny story...?

I always knew I was in store for a "funny story" when my college roommate would come home from where ever she had been and would ask me, "Wanna hear a funny story?" Those were great times, times that I will remember and cherish. What's great is that after living 3 years outside of the state, on the other side of the country, she's moving back with her husband and daughter. I was lucky to be one of their stops on the last leg of their trek back from Sacramento to Fresno. It was great to see them, even though it's only been a couple months. My family got to see them, some of whom had never met Macie.

But I do have a funny, no really it was an ahhhh, story for you. I was sitting on the kitchen floor with Macie in my lap while everyone was standing around visiting. Now, mind you, Macie just turned 2 years old. She turned and looked up at me with her big blue eyes and her little sweet voice and said, "I so happy to see you." Ahhhhh, my heart melted and I shed a tear. She's so precious.

But watch out Melissa! I'm gonna get to share with Macie all of her mommy's "funny stories".

Fire Lighting

Have you ever tried lighting a fire under someone's butt to get a move on things, but they really aren't in any hurry? That's where I am right now. I'm trying to suggest a sense of urgency on getting going full speed on the house, but I keep getting turned down. I ask Mom, please call so and so to have them come out and look at things, mainly to get their professional opinion before we do anything detrimental. She doesn't. I ask Dad, what can we do now? What can we knock down? We're about at a stand point until we get answers. He says, draw up some plans on what you'd like to have done. But I want to know what we CAN do before I spend time drawing plans. Grrrr! Don't they understand that once the house is livable that I'll be moving OUT of their house and INTO that one? Crimney!

A Work in Progress

So a few years back my family purchased the house from an elderly man that lives across the street from us. At the end of May, the man's family finally got him to move into an assisted living facility. So, now comes the remodeling of the house, being as the house hasn't been cleaned in over 30 years. It's a bit disgusting, but with the right TLC it'll be a really cute house. Here are some pictures of the house. Keep in mind, we went in last February and cleaned a majority of the trash (old newspapers, junk mail, to-go boxes) out in a giant dumpster. We had another dumpster a couple weeks ago that collected the rest of the junk/crap/trash.

This first group of pictures (taken end of June, beginning of July) were taken before we went in and cleaned with the 2nd dumpster:
View when you first walked in the back door.

Picture of the kitchen. Just think what it was like before we cleaned out the cabinet.

View from the kitchen down the hallway to the master bedroom. Ick!

Dining room area with builting cabinets. The table last winter was no joke pile about 2 feet tall of junk mail!

Part of the living room. Wouldn't you want to live there?

Picture taken of master bed room. Believe it or not, there is a bed under that pile.

The second group of pictures (take beginning of August) were taken after the bulk of the "stuff" was removed and discarded:

The house from the street. The outside needs work too, mainly just flowers and grass.

View of the living room from the front door. That pile of stuff was all for the yard sale.

Damage above the fireplace.

Shot from inside the master bedroom.

The bathroom. You don't even want to know what it was like before. But this doesn't look good, so you can only imagine...

View from the kitchen to the back door. That stuff is gone, sold in the yard sale.

Back bedroom.

Down comes the antennae.

Wow! Look at all that trash. And yes, we did recycle what we could.

So that is my current project. Now, time to get busy! There is a lot internally structurally that we'd like to do. It's gonna be work, but it'll be great! When it's all done, drum roll please, I'll be moving in! I'll rent from my parents, and after some time either approach them about purchasing it or wait until they split the lots and build another house and purchase that one. That's the plan, it's a pretty darn good one if you ask me.

Monday, August 13, 2007

Success!

The yard sale was a big success! It was pretty much all profit because the stuff didn't belong to us to begin with. We made about $500! That's $500 to go straight into the house.

Yard Sale!

For those of you who are yard sale junkies or like vintage/antique items then stop by on Saturday. My family is having one tomorrow! Most of the stuff is coming from the house across the street from us that we own and are cleaning out. Lots of unique things!

Words to Live By: Obedience

o-be-di-ence, noun.
1. acquiescence to a command.
2. an act in submission to authority.
3. fulfillment of an expectation.
4. Biblical: compliance with the voice of authority.
5. Personal: a lifestyle of deference to God's will.

We ought to obey God rather than men.
-Acts 5:29

The Christian man is the freest lord of all and the most obedient servant of all.
-Martin Luther

If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land.
-Isaiah 1:19

"Obedience means relying on an authority outside of yourself to know how to fly, to know how to live your lives. You can't trust yourself, so you have to rely upon God, his Word, and the leaders he puts in your life."

Learning obedience is hard. I am a prideful human that has been affected by my forefather, Adam. Adam was disobedient towards God, and his rebellion has passed down from generation to generation and on down to me.

How is one obedient? How does one become obedient? It's actually quite simple, but it's much easier said than down. One is obedient when they submit their will to God and listen to his authority. Even Jesus had to obey, and he was perfect. I struggle with being obedient. And I struggle because I want the instant gratification. I want to be obedient and then quickly receive the fruits of my labor or my rewards. I don't want to wait, I don't want to be patient. But going through that is all part of the learning to be obedient.

For the past year and 9 months, I was working in a position, or department, that I was not happy in. But I knew that if I wanted to stay within the company I needed to just wait it out and pray that a position would become available that would be a perfect fit for me. I was obedient to God, or so I thought. I was the good Christian that was going to church, participating in a Bible Study, befriending strong Christian people, praying, going to Sunday School. You name it, I was doing it. You know what I found out though, works does not equal obedience. Obedience is matching my lifestlye and my heart to God's will for me. As I grew closer and closer to being an obedient person I grew stronger and more encouraged that although my time with my place of employment had not been pleasant, that there was a perfect place for me within it where I feel valued and be valuable.

And here I am now, 3 days into a new position where the people are friendly and understanding of the learning curve that I have. Where they want to see the employees excel and improve. Where I feel valued, yes, even after 3 days. I am where I am now because I was obeying God's command. I am reaping the fruits of my obedience. And boy does it feel good!

Now... let's see how else God will reward my obedience as I continue to obey...

We are born subjects, and to obey God is perfect liberty. He that does this shall be free, safe and happy.
-Seneca

August Resolutions

I resolve in August to...

1. Actively seek God in my day to day life, worshiping Him and bring Him glory. Being like Jesus to people. Hold me accountable people, please.

2. Losing weight. Summer is almost over, and I only have 2 months left until my best friend's wedding in October. My goal, which is totally obtainable, is to lose 10 pounds (5 pounds per month) by then. For those of you that I eat out with regularly, please hold me to it.

3. Go somewhere at least an hour away from home.

4. Quit rewarding myself with food. Time to reward myself with something different. A pedicure, manicure, new shirt, or purse, or whatever (and I'm making enough money to do that and not worry too much now!).

5. Exercise. Swim, walk, Bosu ball, anything!

6. Try to be at the painting stage by the end of the month at the house across the street. Which mind you, as soon as it's done I can move it. But there is lots to do to it.

7. Do something BOLD or DARING!

Out with July!

July resolution report time:

1. Actively seek God in my day to day life, worshiping Him and bring Him glory. Being like Jesus to people.
This area is a daily struggle for me. Pray that I can do better with this. I need to daily be in the Word and in prayer.

2. Continued control from nibbling at work. No pastries, desserts, and nibblings.
I was bad at this one too...

3. Again with the losing 5 pounds. Summer is here! Not only that, but I am in my best friend's wedding in October. My goal, which is totally obtainable, is to lose 20 pounds by then. Help hold me to it everyone!
Yea, you guessed it. That didn't happen. But I didn't gain either, just maintained.

4. Go somewhere out of the area. Maybe a drive to the coast is in order...
I went nowhere. Nowhere entirely special that is. I did go to the fair!

5. Confess something to someone, and see where things go from there. I know this maybe be totally cryptic to some, but others of you know what I'm talking about. Time to encourage without pressuring :)
I did this! And I was rejected. What did I do about it? Nothing. There is nothing to do, except continue on with friendship like nothing happened.

6. Have a good attitude with current job. But seek new one in the meantime.
Yes! Found a new job! I can't say that I continued having a good attitude towards the VC position though. Oh well, no more of that.

7. Quit rewarding myself with food. If I do something good or deserving or a reward (went on a walk, lost weight, made it through a day at work, etc.) I tend to treat myself to something with calories, and lots of them. Time to reward myself with something different. A pedicure, manicure, new shirt, or purse, or whatever.
This one is going to take work. My mentality is, "You lost weight. Good job, you deserve an ice cream now." Honestly, what good does that do?!?

8. Exercise. Swim, walk, Bosu ball, anything!
Swam a fair amount of time. Will be walking more in my future.

Wednesday, August 1, 2007

2 more days!

Only 2 more days of working in the VC! I'm so excited to finally be done with the place and moving up to bigger and better. Although, I'm nervous. Scared that I won't live up to what they want. But confident at the same time that I can do it. Oooh, a bundle of nerves, confidence and excitement all together! And stress from having to wrap up a job, while training 5 people that are taking over what I've been doing, while lining everything up before I leave, while still doing my job, while have been mentally checked out since last week.

Oh how great Friday at 4 will be...

PRAISE THE LORD!

After many attempts to move to another area of the company, I have finally been offered one. You're reading the blog of the new Quality Assurance Administrative Assistant. I pretty much just got a big fat raise, and a position outside of the visitor center. Hallelujah!

Interview

Tomorrow, Friday, I have a 2nd interview at HCC. Please pray for during the 2-3 pm hour, and before if you would like. Pray that if this position is God's will for me that everything will go well and I'll say all the right things to impress the panel of interviewers. Please keep me in your prayers. Thanks so much!

I did it...

I put my heart on the line. It was rejected. Now it's a little broken.

That's all I have to say about that for now.

The end.

What a great "faux" weekend!

I love weeks like this one. Work Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday was a holiday (although I worked a couple hours), then I took Thursday off. 2 days on, 2 days off, one day on, 2 days off. Why can't every week be like that?

The "faux weekend" really started off Tuesday night, when Jenn and I hosted Tuesday Night Dinner at George's (aka Thomas & Katie's) House. The food was great, minus the crispy teriaki chicken. Most of the guys left earlier than normal to catch their late showing of Transformers. Jenn and I cleaned up and went to Target and Wal-Mart (the devil).

Yesterday was the Fourth of July. And I celebrated (sans the fireworks and sparklers)! Friends came over, friends swam, friends ate and drank, friends swam some more, and friends played liars dice. Friends are fun! It was pretty much a perfect way to celebrate and stay cool at the same time.

Enjoy some pictures for your viewing pleasure!

Aiden in the water playing with Aunt Allie.

Monty, prepared for the worst...falling in and not finding the steps.

Jeffery family #1.

Me.

Darren playing catch outside the pool.

George floating. Could life get better? No effort in floating, and a beer... ahhhhh...

Jenn & Anthony.

Rob. I don't know what he's doing...

Oops. I lied. There were sparklers, but they came out after everyone left. That's my brother, Chris, showing his spirit.

For my Thursday off, which I took mainly because I had a doctor's appointment, I also ended up driving down to Fresno to visit the MOST adorable soon-to-be-two-year-old ever! This child would be Macie, the same that I visited in DC. She has grown leaps and bounds since April. I'm no longer Nortney... But hey, I've upgraded to Courtnee. How 'bout that? In addition to seeing Macie, I got to see her mom and my old roommate, Melissa. It was great seeing both of them, and eating Cheesecake Factory... yummyyyy..... I can't wait until they move back to California!
Hi, how cute is she!?!

Muah! Macie blowing kisses to her mommy.

Cheese! No, really. She's eating a grilled cheese sandwich and showing it off.

I pretty much can't wait until the real weekend starts, after tomorrow at 5pm!

(By the way, I have an interview Friday from 4-5. Please pray for me during that time.)

Feelin' Hot, Hot, Hot

So with June over, and results finally posted, it's time for July's resolutions! Many are repeats, but there are some new ones mixed in.

June resolution time

1. Actively seek God in my day to day life, worshiping Him and bring Him glory. Being like Jesus to people.

2. Continued control from nibbling at work. No pastries, desserts, and nibblings.

3. Again with the losing 5 pounds. Summer is here! Not only that, but I am in my best friend's wedding in October. My goal, which is totally obtainable, is to lose 20 pounds by then. Help hold me to it everyone!

4. Go somewhere out of the area. Maybe a drive to the coast is in order...

5. Confess something to someone, and see where things go from there. I know this maybe be totally cryptic to some, but others of you know what I'm talking about. Time to encourage without pressuring :)

6. Have a good attitude with current job. But seek new one in the meantime.

8. Exercise. Swim, walk, Bosu ball, anything!

Oops, June is over...

I realized last night, very late, that I hadn't updated you on how my June resolutions went. So, this is how June played out.

1. Actively seek God in my day to day life, worshiping Him and bring Him glory. Being like Jesus to people.
Not easy, but always trying.

2. Continued control from nibbling at work. No pastries, desserts, and nibblings.
I wasn't very good at this one in June. I do need to work on it more.

3. Again with the losing 5 pounds. Summer is here! Not only that, but I am in my best friend's wedding in October. My goal, which is totally obtainable, is to lose 20 pounds by then. Help hold me to it everyone!
I think I lost 2 or 3 pounds. Not the 5 I was aiming for, but every pound counts.

4. Go somewhere out of the area. Don't know where yet...
Well, I went down to San Luis Obispo again for another cousin's wedding. Then to Pozo, mapquest it it's in the middle of nowhere Central Coast, where the reception was. Most of my ancestors on my mom's lived in Pozo, so it was nice to see all that family history in the area.

5. Start planning a bachelorette party weekend for said bride of October wedding. Anyone have any ideas? Possibly having friends from across the country joining the party.
Weekend picked out, check! Lodging booked, check! Now for the tacky, trashy bachelorette garb for the bride to be...

6. Have a good attitude with current job.
I have failed at this one. It's really hard to keep a good attitude in my current work situation.

Yea, need to work on this one too. Old habits are hard to break.

8. Per my father's request and suggestion... Be more out going towards guys. As great as it would be to just sit back and wait for God, I've also got to not wait by the door. Time to get out there. Be out going. Flirt a little and enjoy myself.
Oh if you only knew the agony I'm going through with this one. This topic actually deserves a whole separate post. Stay posted...

9. Exercise.
HAHA!

10. Forgive for the wrongs I feel have been done towards me, and let go of the unknowns for why people are the way they are. Try not to dwell on everything that does not affect me.
Honestly, I think I'm not doing too bad with this one. I still have questions, but I've come to terms with things.

What would you do?

Last week a position at work was opened up. I had first of all, no idea that the posting was up, but I also had no intention of signing the posting for that position. I knew that any day now a different position would become available. One that I'd much rather have.

Well, I was pressured into signing the posting last week for the Events Coordinator position, which I really don't want. I don't want the EC job for 2 reasons. And if you know my current work situation you'd understand. I don't want the job because:
1) there go my weekends
2) I'd still be working in the Visitor Center.
The posting for this job has closed, and interviews will be taking place later this week...

The position that was posted today is for the Quality Assurance Administrative Assistant. My best friend has known this was going to become available, so she's been talking me up to just about everyone in that department. I'd much rather transfer back there. I'm tired of the drama and politics of the department that I currently work in. This is definitely a step in the direction that I need to take. This position's posting opened today and closes on Wednesday. That's not the problem.

Do I withdrawal my name from the Events Coordinator applicants? Do I sign another posting? I don't want to look like I sign everything, but this is what I've been waiting for and I was pressured into signing the first one. How should I go about handling this situation???

I AM

I am a child of God ... I am funny ... I'm an observer ... I am a good cook ... I am faithfully waiting ... I love to take pictures ... I am an emotional being ... I am a woman of God ... Hello summer!

Is it just me, or did it go from nice cool spring weather to immediate HOT? I do not like being hot, sweaty, sticky. Hello summer and 100 degree heat. I, floating in a pool, will wait for fall. Then it won't be so bloody hot.

The end.

Gotta Love Overtime!

This past Saturday I got to work a little bit of OT (12 hours to be exact, woot woot!) for work. It was great fun, although the feet were a little tired. We were catering a wedding, a beautifully done reception. But, one of the coolest things at the event was that they had a photo booth, kinda like at the fair just nicer. So as the guests were leaving and clean up was happening a few of us sneaked into the booth to take a few shots. And this was the result...

Let the summer begin!

Don't know where yet...

5. Start planning a bachelorette party weekend for said bride of October wedding. Anyone have any ideas? Possibly having friends from across the country joining the party.

6. Have a good attitude with current job.

9. Exercise.

10. Forgive for the wrongs I feel have been done towards me, and let go of the unknowns for why people are the way they are. Try not to dwell on everything that does not affect me.

May Resolutions Results

My May resolutions were as listed below. The results are in bold.

1. Actively seek God in my day to day life, worshiping Him and bring Him glory.
Trying always, and a work in progress.

2. Still... No pastries, desserts, and nibblings from Hilmar Cheese. They are delicious. But they are the death of me.
Much more under control than it has been in the past. I still nibble, but I know when to stay away.

3. Yep, this one again... Lose 5 pounds. Time to get seriously serious, summer is closer than just around the corner, it's in less than a month.
During the month of May I lost between 3 and 4 pounds! Yeah me!

4. Go somewhere out of the area. Last month was Washington DC. It won't be somewhere as far, but I'm definitely going somewhere at least 50 miles away. My BFF, Rylen, and I are planning something for Memorial Day weekend. But we're not sure what to do yet. Any ideas?
I didn't go anywhere for Memorial Day weekend. But I did go down to SLO for a cousin's wedding. 3 hours away counts as going somewhere.

5. Still Target in moderation. Shopping only by a list of needs. And no, that does not mean that I'll be making the list as I shop. :)
I'm doing good on this one. I only splurged once all month when I purchased a Bosu ball, which I've been wanting for months.

6. God has a plan for me in my job situation. And I'm trusting Him, but I still have to actively pursue opportunities out there. So I will continue to look for a new job.
Still keeping my eyes open, but staying where I am for now.

7. Have the BEST darn birthday EVER (May 14)! Anyone care to join me?
I had a GREAT birthday! That night I had bible study where they had strawberry shortcake for me, yummmm.... Tuesday night my wonderful friends surprised me at Tuesday Night Dinner with a party. 2 weeks after my birthday my parents took me out to dinner, and a good friend took me out to lunch. Gotta love birthdays that you celebrate all month! Oh yea, but I did break my pinky toe on my birthday. (for more info see prior posts.)

I can't say I was entirely successful at this one. But I didn't over indulge in what I did do.

Toe Update

So, my foot is magic! My bruise started not only on a quarter of my foot, but more concentrated on my pinky toe. IT MOVED! That's right folks, my bruise moved locations. And it moved not once, but twice. Although it's slowly fading now, it bruise is between the middle and "pointer" toes. But it doesn't hurt where the bruise is, my poor little baby toes hurts. I don't get it. But whatever. The pain is lessening, I'm walking better, and my pedicure still looks good. So, there an update on my broken toe.

The end.

Toe pick!

No thank you! Here's an update on my poor little baby toe. It still hurts, worse than it did Monday. Over the course of a day it went from red and slightly swollen, to 5 shades of purple. But hey, at least my pedicure still looks good! Take a look...

So if you stop by Hilmar Cheese and see someone gimping around, that's me!

Do I look any older?

So I'm officially 27 years old!

(This picture was taken earlier this evening.)

Do I feel any different? No. Do I look any different? No. Was my day extraordinary? Well, besides lots of texts and calls wishing me a happy day and eating a brownie ice cream sundae with a co-worker, no. Although, due to amount of work that has to be done on Mondays, a birthday lunch date has been postponed until tomorrow afternoon. Did I do anything exciting today? Ummm...came home from work, visited with dad, took a shower, had a SmartOne for dinner, went to bible study, had strawberry shortcake, opened cards (thank you ladies), came home, started a load of laundry, broke my pinky toe, and now I'm blogging. Pretty eventful day.

Did I mention I broke my pinky toe? Yea, it hurts.

(Guess which toe it is. I'll give you a clue, it's the swollen red one.)

On the flip side, God has provided a great year full of new friends and trips among many other things. Although, new gray hairs have been starting to sprout up more often...

I'm excited to see what God has in store for me this up coming new chapter/year of my life. For one thing, my best friend is getting married and I'm in the wedding. Super uber excited for Rylen and Jim and being able to share that special day with them. I'm sure I'll be heading on a few more mini vacas and having loads more fun and experiences with friends. I'm excited that every day that passes is one day closer to when I'll meet the man God has been saving and growing for me.

I feel that this is going to be a good year! God has lots in store for me in my 27th year of life!

3 more shopping day!

Monday is my birthday :) I'll be the ripe ol' age of 27! Can you believe it? That's old!

Here is my amazon.com wish list in case you still need to get me a gift: My Amazon.com Wish List

I'd really like the Bosu ball.

But don't feel obligated... :)

That's it.

I'm not going to lie and say that I passed this one with flying colors. BUT I was much more in control. Definitely one to continue working on.

3. Yep, this one again... Lose 5 pounds. Time to get seriously serious, summer is just around the corner.
I don't know how I ended the month overall. But I do know that I didn't make the 5 pounds down mark, but I did lose some. HAHA, I'm a loser!

4. Go somewhere out of the area. I got this one in the bag!
Ummmm....Hi, I flew across the country to our Nation's Capital to visit good friends. It was fantastic!

5. Still Target in moderation. Shopping only by a list of needs. And no, that does not mean that I'll be making the list as I shop. :)
I went to Target only a handful of times and was in control.

6. Heavily pursue finding a new job.
Came to the realization that if I must then I will move out of the area for a new job. Of course, I'll only move to places that I'd like to live. So far, besides the Modesto to Merced radius I've looked at SLO County. Possible potential jobs being referred to me by people I know...thank you!

And for the Lent season I have given up soda.
Piece of cake! Success!
