While in Hawaii we were introduced to a canned beverage. I wouldn't say it was soda as there was fruit juice and no carbonation. It was just a beverage.
But it wasn't just a beverage. It was delicious liquid goodness. It was sweet, but not sugary. It was refreshing. It was Aloha Maid.
I didn't drink any soda while in Hawaii. And no, the ginger ale on the plane doesn't count. In fact, I didn't drink all that much water either. I drank a lot of Pineapple-Orange, Guava, Strawberry-Orange, and Passion-Orange Aloha Maid. Which is probably why I gained weight while there. I drank that stuff like it was going out of style.
Now what I really want to know, is where can I find this true nectar of the gods on the "mainland"?!?
The stuff is made by Ito En (USA), Inc. somewhere on one of the islands. And there are many more flavors that we didn't try. But when I look at their website, I find no evidence of an Aloha Maid brand. In fact, besides ordering it from places online, I can't find it. And I'm not at the desperation level yet of paying $10 for a 12 pack.
Help! If you have ever seen this can/label anywhere in the Continental United States please let me know! I'm looking for it. I'm craving it. I'm having withdrawls!
