March 30th: Matthew 24:1-31; Numbers 25-27; Song of Solomon 6:4-8:4

but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.
Matthew 24:13

I could eat nothing but ... for a year

Ice cream. No, maybe not. Cereal, but it would have to vary; it couldn't be the same cereal for the year. Garlic bread, but then I'd have garlic breath all the time.

Hummm...

Pineapple. No. Cake. Or not.

What is nutritiously sound and well balanced but also tastes good enough to eat all year?

Dangit! I was reading the question wrong. One type of CUISINE.

That's easy. Mexican.

Monday Mumblings

I'm SOOOOO tired! We didn't get home last night from the concert until 12:30am. So by the time I got Riley, got home and ready for bed it was closer to 1am. Eek! I'll be paying for this one for awhile.
----------
I just viewed my blog in regular blog format. You know, how you great people see it every day. I was just happened to skim my little bio blurp on the side. I need to update it. I don't have 2 dogs anymore. :(
----------
My jacket smells like In-N-Out. We stopped there to have a late dinner last night. Gotta wash it tonight.
----------
I love Monday mornings when I go to my blogger dashboard and see ALL the new posts from the people I follow. I love knowing that it'll take me half the morning to go through them all. While I'm working at work mind you...
----------
Eek! I just felt an earthquake. Just a little tremor (that word looks really funny and wrong to me right now) though. At first we, those of us that work upstairs, weren't sure if a semi just backed into the dock wrong (which happens every now and then) or if, well no if that was our only though. But someone looked it up and there was a 4.3 shake based out of Morgan Hill.
----------
Nobody else that I've asked felt the "earthquake". Maybe it was a false alarm.
----------
My tummy is grumbling. I did eat lunch though. But I have weight watchers in about 1 1/2 hours. I already fear this week. Last week I had a great lose of 3 pounds, but I'm afraid that I've gained 2 of that back. Only time will tell... I guess I'll just have some water for now.
----------
Weight Watchers - check! We're not gonna talk about it...
----------
Bible Study - check! Praise God for He is good! Amen!
----------
Grocery shopping done for tomorrow - check! I haven't been to Food Maxx in a long time. Not a bad place for the basic grocery needs. Will have to make mental note to go more often.
----------
It's officially 11:21pm. I'm tired. It's time for bed. Shower now or get up a bit earlier...? Ew, ee, oh, poop. I'll get up earlier.

Ramona brings me back

I remember reading and reading and reading the Ramona books. Really it was any book by Beverly Cleary. Man, it's been so many years I can't even remember what they were about.

Let's see... Ramona had an older sister. And maybe a younger sibling, like a baby. And, ah, ok so that's all I can remember.

Maybe I should re-read them.

Plinky.com

I found a interactive website that will post a question a day in which it's members can answer and have posted to their blog, twitter, facebook, etc. So every now and then you might see some random post that doesn't seem to be very descriptive. Like this one... But I think if you click the little plinky.com icon at the bottom it might take you to the question. idk.

What would your backstage rider demand?

Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

What Coulda Been

About a week ago I was notified by a friend that an ex-boyfriend of mine, while on duty, was in a car accident that has resulted in him becoming paralyzed. She later followed up by e-mailing me a link to an article about what had happened. Tragic and sad. But what can I do, you know?

To be quite honest, I'm neutral about it. Sure, I feel for James and what he has gone through the last couple weeks, and what he'll have to go through in the future; but I'm "eeh" about it. I do pray that he has people to support him and help him as he adjusts to life with paralysis. But he burned me many years ago. Sure, I've moved on and forgiven him, but not forgotten.

Maybe I feel this way because of the way things ended between us. Not good. Not nice. Not happy and mutual.

On my part not mutual. But God has a way of working out situations. He always does and always will.

I told Rylen about what happened and forwarded the article. She came and visited me at my desk later that morning and we talked about it some. You see, Rylen was there from the beginning of the relationship to the end and was always there for me. So she knows the history. She made a comment that really made me think though, "Could you imagine how your life were right now if the two of you had gotten married? Your life would be flipped upside down right now."

Wow! I hadn't thought of that. That thought hadn't even crossed my mind. If we had gotten married like we had talked about way back when (about 8 years ago) things in my life wouldn't have happened as they have. I'd probably be a mom by now. Maybe I would or maybe I wouldn't be married to a cop, because while we were dating James was going to school to become a history teacher.

I can't write what the past or the future could have or will be had he continued to be in my life. I do know this though, as much as my heart goes out to him during this difficult time, I'm glad that I'm not involved. I'm glad, estatic really, that God removed me from that relationship and moved my life forward. Sure it hurt for awhile, but it got better. Life got better. I've done things and experienced things that I may not have, actually I know I wouldn't have, done and experienced had the relationship continued and resulted in marriage.

Although, I'm curious to see how he uses this new handicap. If he uses it to become a motivation to others, or as a crutch or an excuse. If he uses it for the better then he has become a better man than I expected.

My prayers go out to him.

I really can't help but be thankful.

This just goes to show that life happens whether you're ready for it or not. But it's how you choose to live life in the now.

Meat and Potato-less

Man alive I've been busy. Maybe you've noticed. Maybe you've noticed that a bulk of my recent posts have been my "Picture of the Day..." with what verses I read of the Bible for the day. Maybe you've noticed all the "fluff" and not any real good "stuff".

Things have been going on in my life (sorry, none are really related to Dennis), and I do have things to fill you in on. I'm just a slacker.

So I vow, promise, commite to get you caught up.

But, ah, it probably won't be before the end of this weekend.

Or after the weekend really. Maybe next week. Mabye a little at a time.

See, I'm BUSY!

No Candy Breaks

I made it all day today without making any trips to the various offices surrounding me to collect candies. That's huge. Seriously. I normally get up from my desk numerous times during the day and collect little sugary treats. And that's gotta stop.

Sugary treats sabotage my "diet".

But it's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change. And it's not that candy isn't allowed, I just have NO control.

I heart sugary treats.

Patience

God, I'm ready. I'm ready for a healed heart. Please help fill me with a renewed spirit, guard my heart. Amen.

Patience.

Father, please help me to let go. Let me lean on you. Guard and protect my heart. Your plan is far greater than any plan I could have for myself. Help me Lord. Amen.

Be patient.

Father God, I don't know what's going on, but You do. What am I to do? Lead me, guide me. Make my path straight. I put my full trust and faith in you. I'm pretty dumb when it comes to the common sense stuff and to know when it's you telling me something. You may have to hit me upside the head for me to get the message. Please write it out for me in a simple way. Amen.

Just be patient.

Lord, I am not a patient person. I trust You though. Please help me become more patient and to fully lean on you. Help me not to jump to conclusions or to let my imagination run wild. In your time things will be known. But in the mean time, fill my every void with your love. Amen.

May Your Garden Flourish

Plant five rows of peas:
Patience,
Perseverance,
Preparation.
Include three rows of squash:
Squash negativity,
Squash dieting,
Squash deprivation.
Add five rows of lettuce:
Let us be positive,
Let us take responsibility,
Let us me in control,
Let us reward our accomplishments,
Let us be empowered.
No garden is complete without turnips:
Turn up with a positive attitude,
Turn up with a smile,
Turn up with new ideas,
Turn up with real determination,
Turn up with success.
May your garden flourish.

How to cut back...

...or just save some moola.

After my last doctor appointment about a month ago, one of the receptionists asked if I've ever ordered my prescription by mail. She had asked because I commented on how my pills keep getting more and more expensive, even just my co-pay. Well, I honestly thought only old people got their meds by mail.

Well, as it turns out, ordering them that way could save you money. But just how much? So I finally spent the time to do the research the last couple days. And you know what, it does save you/me money!

A one month supply via my normal pharmacy costs me $40. Do the math, that's over a buck a day. Ridiculous! Ordering a 3 month supply via the mail order place will be $80. That's like buy 2 get 1 free! I love free! Annually, that will be a $160 savings!

And that's one way that I'll be cutting my costs during this economic ickiness.

Happy Birthday Bro!

Guess who's turning a quarter of a century today...
(not the green guy, the guy behind the green guy)

Last night we celebrated as a family (minus Paige, sorry Paige...) and then I made our traditional cake. Funfetti. Or as we call it, Party-in-Your-Mouth Cake. Chris helped a little with the batter, which was greener than the lizard above.

But he's off to Monterey to celebrate for the weekend to see his beloved, Colleen, and his buds.

Have fun! Be safe! See you when you get home!

By the way, what do you want for your birthday...?

All Cleaned Out

Let's see, over the course of the past month or so, I have officially deleted...
1.82, 2.64, 1.61, 1.06...

Approximately 7.13 gigabytes of music from my computer. Give or take a few megs.

And most of those songs were ones that I hardly listen to or always skip when the randomly are played, or I downloaded them because they were a hit at one point or another.

Time Change

I love the time change. The extra daylight. The sunny weather. The blooming flowers. A-a-a-choo!

But boy do I hate the time change. About this time every day since Monday I hit a brick wall. Then I want to lean against or lay down next to said brick wall and take a nap. I have every intention of walking when I get home because it's lighter later, but I end up sitting down and falling asleep. All energy and intentions are out the window.

I found it!

Man alive!

So I got my new phone, or iPhone, Sunday. And I've been playing and updating and downloading. But for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to blog from this thing. It can do everything else, well except send or receive picture texts, so why can't I blog.

A friend of mine told me about an app that she purchased for $10. Too much! I can wait for that amount. But I just found an app for $0.99. Much better. And it works, at least it's working!

So there's no excuse now. Right?

Now if I can figure out how to add pictures too...

Long Road

The road is long. And the road is not a nicely paved path, there are potholes and bumps along the way. It's not always a smooth road. Sometimes you can set your cruise control and zip right down the road, but sometimes you've got to go a little slow and proceed with caution. Sometimes there are curves in the the road, and sometimes the road is straight. Sometime there are other cars on the road, but sometimes you're on it alone.

But you're not completely alone. Although you may not realize it, there is always a passenger in your car. Someone that guides you and helps direct you. Someone to navigate. Someone that's been down this road before and knows what to expect along the way.

I know for me the road of life definitely has it's ups and downs. But I also rest in knowing that my Savior, Jesus Christ, is always with me, even though I don't always necessarily feel like He is. Knowing that my path is already laid out and that I won't be given more than I can handle is comforting. Has what I've gone through in the past been tough? Sure. But it could be far worse, and I know that I can handle whatever God has prepared for me because I'm not alone.

Looking for Additional Work...

MSN Money compiled a list of 52 ways to make extra money. And hey, right now, I'm sure just about everyone could use a secondary, or a primary, income source. I know I can. So take a look at the article and see if anything suits your fancy.

Personally, these are my favorites:
  • Bartending - How awesome would that be?!? Not only get paid hourly and with tips, but also learn how to make some killer drinks. Downside, there go your weekend evenings...
  • Blogging - Maybe I should see what that one is all about... I've already got the bloggy blog going...
  • Rewrite poorly written ads - Doesn't sound too hard...
  • Sell your body - Not what you're thinking!!! Although... JUST KIDDING!
  • Sell your baked goods - Downside, gaining weight from having to sample all baked goods before selling. Upside, getting to sample all baked goods before selling.
  • Walk dogs - Paid to exercise? There's a concept!
  • Collect aluminum cans - Recycle, reduce, reuse folks! Go green and earn a little extra "green" at the same time.
There you have it, a sampling of extra ways to make some extra dough. We're all hurting one way or another.

So go out and earn!

Part 2...?

I'm not a reality TV person. That's a lie. I like one reality TV show, The Amazing Race. I used to watch The Bachelor, back in my college days. You know, before there was even The Bachelorette. This year though, all 2 months of it, I watched the first and now the last episodes of The Bachelor.

So I missed all the innards. All the the drama and cat fights. I've heard that this season was different. Well, at last the final rose ceremony and the "after the rose" interview session.

WOW!

Shocking!

If you don't what happened... shame on you! Just kidding. It'll be all over every website and tabloid come tomorrow morning. So you won't be able to miss it.

All I can say is this...
I would like to steal Melissa's speech from her final limo ride.

To Run a 5K

Remember how one of my new year resolutions is to run a race of some sort? Like a 5k?

Confusion time. I haven't "trained" really at all. I've gone on a couple walks so far, but nothing serious or consistent.

So I was wandering around the web and came across this page, The Couch-to-5K Running Plan.

I like plans. And I like following directions. So maybe I have something to train by.

3 times a week, huh? That's doable!

Kaitlin, are you ready to train with me?

I need a new computer...

and soon!

I'm afraid to turn my laptop off. Last time it did it didn't want to come back on.

Again, tonight, blue screen of death popped up. I turned the computer off... cause really, what other option did I have? I said a little prayer. And I turned it back on. Luckily the prayer worked.

Hopefully in a couple weeks I'll be able to get a new one.

And I'm not going to Circuit City!

----------

In one week from today, I will have a little portable computer.

It will fit in the palm of my hand.

I'm uber excited!
